The Carolina Speed held three tryouts in the off season. Coming up next is traning camp. Every team in the SIFL carries a limited number of players into their training camp. The Roster must be trimmed even further before the first game. Only twenty players will see the field come game time.

South End Field House named “The Official Practice Facility of the Carolina Speed”
South End Field House has been named “The Official Practice Facility of the Carolina Speed” The Speed are a professional arena/indoor football team playing in the Southern Indoor Football League. The facility is located at 1327 South Mint Street in the Historic South End District and is only 1.5 miles from Uptown Charlotte. SEFH has built a state-of-the-art facility which houses two (2) artificial grass fields, the main field is a 200 feet x 80 feet (a regulation professional indoor football field) and a second field that is 120 feet x 75 feet. In total the facility covers over 30,000 square feet of indoor play space and features a multitude of sports and fitness activities.
The facility has state-of-the-art artificial fields, flooring and lightening, ample free parking, a premier sound system and HD TV’s, as well as a full service bar and lounge for South End Field House customers and guests. The playing surface is FieldTurf’s brand new artificial grass, DuraSpine Pro, designed to accommodate any type of multi-sport activity. The lounge overlooking the playing field will allow Speed fans to view and follow practices.
Further amenities include a climate controlled facility, spacious men’s and women’s locker rooms, conference and party room, 900 sq ft mezzanine and much more. The facility has the ability to be converted into many uses including sports leagues, formal galas, fundraisers, team-building events, birthday parties, holiday parties, and much more.
Under the agreement the Carolina Speed will be utilizing the facility for its 2011 open player tryouts as well as its in season practices. In addition the Speed will be partnering with South End Field House with its Speed “Youth Football League” and it’s “Youth Football Summer Camp”. This great indoor facility is a perfect fit for the Speed as it allows us to practice on a game size regulation field while implementing game like situations says Speed Head Coach Ben McGarity.
