REAL TALK January 12, 2009

How is the team looking so far?
We have a strong core of returning veterans. With the addition of T.A. McLendon and Derek Watson, our offensive game has been upgraded.  The rookie players have to adjust to the quickness and blocking assignments of  arena football along with the two players in high motion.

Defensively, Troy Pelshak, former NFL and Super Bowl Champion for St. Louis Rams, is going to play defensive end.  Johnson C. Smith alum Donald Haynesworth has joined the d-line. He is a cousin of Albert, a starter for the Tennessee Titans.

What is the difference in arena and indoor football?
No difference, really.  The American Indoor Football League calls itself ‘indoor’. The Arena Football League, which folded for the 2009 season, calls itself ‘arena’.  There may be slight changes from league to league. Our league has the ‘Uno’ for one point.  The ball is placed on the goal line for kickoffs.  If the kicker puts it through the goal posts, the kickoff team gets one point added to their score.

How many games do you play, where and give me your prediction for 2009?
We play 14 games total with 7 home games at Bojangles Coliseum. The original Charlotte Coliseum is a perfect venue for our games, fan and family friendly. We hope to bring a championship trophy to Charlotte. My goal is to go undefeated. Our team is that good.

How has the level of interest been in Charlotte so far?
Since the Panthers defeat on Saturday, we have the phone ringing all the time. Fans are looking for a football outlet. Our season ticket prices are at $ 60.00 and $ 160 for the VIP seats.

What is the difference?
Premium seats are general admission and most people know that those are excellent seats in Bojangles.  VIP seats allow a fan to seat in a box or stand down behind the dasher boards.  Basically, if it was a hockey game, a VIP ticket puts you at the glass.

Dasher board tickets are for the fan who fully understands arena football. Fast, furious, hard hits and lots of scoring is why they want to be at the VIP level.

Is there a chance to meet the players?
After each game, we allow the fans on the field for twenty minutes.  Our players will sign autographs, programs, t-shirts, footballs and take photos with fans.

Why only twenty minutes?
These are professional football players.  After going full tilt for over an hour, they need to hit the showers. Believe me, the players will spend a lot of time with the fans after each home game.

What do you need after all is said and done?
The corporate leaders in Charlotte have to continue to support our team.  We provide great family entertainment.  Our football is fun for any age, affordable to any income bracket. Any team, Panthers or Checkers or Bobcats or Speed, need the support of their partners. W appreciate all they have done for us.
